Key Responsibilities: As a Level 1 SOC Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the organisation’s digital assets by monitoring and managing security events through Microsoft Sentinel. Your responsibilities include triaging alerts, investigating incidents, and escalating issues as necessary. - Monitoring and Analysis:
– Continuously monitor Microsoft Sentinel for security alerts and potential threats.
– Analyse and prioritise security events to determine their legitimacy and severity.
- Incident Investigation:
– Investigate alerts and identify potential indicators of compromise, including suspicious logins, malware activity, or phishing attempts.
– Document findings and ensure detailed records of events and actions taken.
- Escalation and Coordination:
– Escalate confirmed security incidents to higher-tier analysts or the Incident Response team with thorough documentation.
– Collaborate with internal teams to mitigate security risks promptly.
- Basic Response Actions:
– Perform initial response actions under supervision, such as disabling accounts, blocking IPs, or containing suspicious activities.
- Continuous Learning:
– Stay updated on cybersecurity trends, Microsoft Sentinel updates, and best practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Education:
– Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Certifications:
– CompTIA Security+ or Microsoft Certified: Security Operations Analyst Associate (preferred).
- Technical Skills:
– Hands-on experience or familiarity with Microsoft Sentinel and Azure security tools.
– Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs).
– Knowledge of cybersecurity fundamentals and common threat types.
– Ability to analyse log data and correlate security events.
- Soft Skills:
– Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
– Clear written and verbal communication.
– Ability to handle multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Experience:
– 0–2 years of experience in a cybersecurity or IT support role.
